‘Manager Asked for Sex…’: Mumbai Woman, Seeking Dead Dad’s PF, Faces Harrowing Time.

Mumbai police have booked an HR manager of a private company for allegedly demanding sexual favors from a 23-year-old woman in exchange for releasing her deceased father’s provident fund (PF). The incident came to light on Wednesday, after the woman, a resident of Bandra (E), approached the police.

Sexual harassment in the workplace is unfortunately a prevalent issue that many individuals face on a daily basis. One such harrowing experience was recently shared by a woman in Mumbai, who spoke out about her manager demanding sexual favors in exchange for her deceased father’s provident fund.

The woman had documented the incriminating conversations between her and the accused, based on which he was booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act, Times of India reported quoting police officials.

However, the accused is yet to be arrested.

According to the report, the woman is employed as a domestic help and lives with her younger brother and grandmother. Her parents got divorced and her father died in 2015, when she was 15 years old.

Before his death, her father named her the nominee of the provident fund, which she could receive after turning 18.

In the complaint, the woman said that despite submitting multiple forms to claim the PF, the company did not release it.

“After being informed that my father’s file was with the company’s manager, I faced further delays. When I contacted the HR manager, he asked for sexual favours to expedite the payment,” the TOI report said quoting the victim.
