New Delhi: Eleven people died and four were injured in a massive fire in a paint factory inside a house in the narrow lanes of Alipur Residential area of the capital Delhi. According to the Delhi Fire Department, the deceased were transferred to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital while the 4 injured were transferred to Raja Harishchandra Hospital. The deceased persons have not been identified yet. Many instances of carelessness have been exposed in this accident. It has come to the attention of police that paint making was occurring in a house with chemical drums.
The fire was so terrible that four nearby houses got engulfed in the fire. Efforts to control the fire were going on till late night. Despite this, the fire was brought under control by morning.
Fire broke out in the evening, was brought under control in the morning
According to the fire department, a fire broke out at around 5:25 pm in a factory located at House No. 692, Dayal Market, Alipur in Bhorgarh area. Within no time the fire engulfed the entire building. Four people had died due to the fire. As soon as the information was received, 24 vehicles from the fire department, CATS ambulance, local police, and senior police officers reached. It is being reported that a large quantity of chemicals and plastic were kept inside the house. Due to which the fire spread rapidly and after some time it took a terrible form. Fire personnel evacuated nearby houses as a precaution. The police are trying to identify those who lost their lives due to the fire.
22 people rescued from drug de-addiction center through roof
According to the information, the factory in which the fire broke out was located in the house. There are narrow streets around it. There is also information about a blast at the chemical site. After which, the fire spread rapidly. It also hit four nearby houses. According to eyewitnesses, there is a drug addiction center operating in a house in front of the factory. From where 22 people were safely taken out through the rooftops. Four people from a house were injured. During the rescue operation, Constable Karamveer sustained injuries as well.
